GiGi’s Playhouse™
GiGi’s Playhouse is an exclusive network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers with the mission of changing the way the world views Down Syndrome and sending a global message of acceptance for all. Through a unique playhouse model, GiGi’s Playhouse offers free therapeutic-based, educational, and career development programs for persons with Down Syndrome, their families, and the community. At dozens of locations throughout the United States and Mexico, life-changing services are offering to more than 30,000 individuals of all ages.

Why We Chose GiGi’s
Our family’s passion for GiGi’s Playhouse is because of our second child, Griffin. Griffin was born in 2014 and diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth.
Today, Griffin is a healthy, active boy who brings laughter and light to our lives. We are tremendously grateful for the love, support, and education our family has received from the staff and volunteers of GiGi’s Playhouse.
The Rosewood Foundation
The Rosewood Foundation, formerly Fire Foundation of Greater Chicago, is an organization that focuses on creating a collaborative environment for children of all ages and abilities so they can share the same learning experience as students without disabilities. The importance of this inclusive approach is to allow children, like our Griffin, the opportunity to learn in the same school and classrooms as their friends and peers.

Why We Chose The Rosewood Foundation
Although relatively new to the Chicagoland area, we want to show our gratitude and support to The Rosewood Foundation as they have already made a huge difference in Griffin’s life. The Rosewood Foundation generously awarded our children’s Catholic school, St. John Evangelist Streamwood, a grant to hire a full-time aid to help Griffin through first grade.

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day that has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.
The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
